Tip of the month-
Please do
not put invisible thread in your bobbin!!!! We are seeing more and
more machines coming in for repair because of this. When using
invisible thread, use the invisible in the top only and cotton thread in
the bobbin. There have been recent articles telling you that you
can use it in both places but our repair man says DON'T DO IT!!
He also cautions against using hand quilting thread in your machine.
Your machine will be happier if you use machine quilting thread.

Hello everyone - and Happy Spring!!!
We have so much to tell you in this newsletter that's it hard to know where to begin.....
We have just completed Catman 2's fund raising quilt
for this year and we are very proud of the finished quilt. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Catman
will officially start selling tickets at the "Greening of the
Mountain" in Sylva on Sat April 26. (You can also buy tickets at the
shop). Tickets will be sold and the quilt will be displayed at a
lot of area craft shows and celebrations throughout the spring and
summer. A lucky winner will be drawn in the fall. If you
are not familiar with the wonderful work done at Catman 2 check out the web
site at www.catman2.org Our shop is a proud supporter of this
great no kill feline rescue sanctuary.
(Special thanks to all of the shop staff who pieced the top, and
special Thanks to Pat Horning for machine quilting this quilt.
She quilted it with
cute kitties, mice and dragonflies.) |
2008
Carolina Shop Hop- mark your calendars now for July
11-19. This year’s theme is "Fall for the Carolinas" and the autumn
colored blocks are gorgeous. Our quilt has gone to be quilted but
will be in the shop on display as soon as it gets back. Anna Orlow
designed a special center for our shops’ version of the shop hop
quilt that I know you will love as much as we do!
Quilt
Camp/ Retreat Aug. 10-14 at Rose Creek Retreat Center in Franklin,
NC. We only have 4 spots
left for camp. Don't delay- call us now if you want one of
them. We will check in on Sunday night Aug. 10 around 5:00 and
our first class (A great tote bag) and "meet and greet" party begins
at 7. The next 3 days will be non-stop fun with 6 more classes
including a midnight madness class with choice of 2 quilts, a jacket
class, a gorgeous jelly roll quilt class, a birdhouse wall hanging,
and a cute pin cushion. Camp also features special fun events such
as a quilters "white elephant exchange" (this was hysterical last
year), the best food you ever had, and laughs and memories you will
treasure forever. We depart for home after breakfast on Thursday
Aug.14. You can look at pictures from the 2007 camp as well as get
details for this year on our web site.
Camp price includes
lodging, food, and all classes.
Lindi
and Ginny have just returned from 6 weeks in Calif.- and were
thrilled to take classes with Eleanor Burns herself while there.
Their class was Eleanor's official "guinea pig" class for Eleanor's
presentation of her new book "Victory Quilts". Lindi and
Ginny are teaching Eleanor's Underground Railroad Quilt in a 5 week
class at the shop right now and will follow up with a 6 week class
on the Victory Quilts Book later this summer. Watch the web
site for dates.

be circulated or sold) .

and get a free Blank Fabrics Quilting tote bag.” (We've been told
that the next one might offer a free celtic quilting cd- but we
never know until it gets here). These are great coupons and we hope
you will take advantage of this offer. This offer will not be
available online. You can only get the coupon and participate if
you are on this mailing list.
